James brings a unique approach to the building game with an earlier career in Industrial Design that compliments his offering as a builder. An eye for detail in design has translated to building work where every detail is considered and executed precisely.
With a Bachelor of Industrial Design, he worked on a wide variety of successful and multi award-winning products. With experience extending across consumer electronics, home appliances, heavy hardware, low-tech medical devices, fast moving consumer goods, retail, packaging, banking payments and transport.
From an informal carpentry career on the side throughout his industrial design career James decided to formally attain his Carpentry certificate and bring his attention to detail to the building sector. After formally completing his carpentry he worked on a number of house renovations and new builds, very quickly moving to leading hand carpenter and site foreman. With broad experience within the residential and commercial sectors he easily attained his builder’s licence from which he has continued to complete quality work.
James also has a thorough understanding of the complexities of the new Design Building Practitioners Act which is having a significant impact on the approach to working on Class 2 (Strata) buildings.
